  • An altar or Puja Mandap is prepared, usually in the north or south-facing direction, based on traditional practices. The image or photograph of the deceased ancestor is placed on the altar, and offerings (fruits, flowers, and incense) are arranged.
  • The priest begins the ritual by performing Achamana (purification) to cleanse themselves and the surroundings.
  • The priest offers water mixed with sesame seeds (til) and black sesame to the deceased ancestors. This is done while chanting specific mantras to invoke the souls of ancestors.
  • The priest recites specific mantras while offering the food, symbolizing the nourishment for the souls of ancestors.
